As more states in the Southeast debate passing their own immigration laws, leaders in the region are coming together to launch the Southeast Summit, a regional dialogue on immigration. Business, faith and law-enforcement leaders from six states — Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee — are gathering to share ideas and information on common-sense solutions for immigration policy, including renewed calls for federal action.
Former United States Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will deliver the keynote address. We will also have interactive panel discussions featuring key figures from the business, faith and law enforcement communities around the region, and facilitate discussion on cross-state collaboration. By working together across state lines, we can better communicate to policymakers and the media about the need for pragmatic solutions at the federal level.
We are reserving a block of rooms that are currently half the usual price at the W, but that rate will only be available until June 7, so please make arrangements soon. Please call (404) 582-5800 to reserve your room.
The Summit is hosted by Jeb Bush Jr., Mayor Paul Bridges of Uvalda, GA, and other regional leaders.
